2004 – Tom McGee
The Port Credit Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the recipient of our 2004 alumni scholarship is Tom McGee.
During Tom’s time at PCSS, he studied a diverse range of subjects: university-level English, studies in literature, philosophy, modern Western history, drama, interdisciplinary studies and writer’s craft. Tom has maintained a 90% average in his OAC courses.
In addition to his classes, Tom was busy participating in many extra-curricular activities. He was the President of the Drama Council, a member of the Student’s Activity Council, co-editor, writer and photographer for the yearbook, choir member, a member of the Remembrance Day Committee, and a member of the Improv Team. Tom has also been active in sports, participating in both the PCSS indoor soccer team, and the karate/aikido club. Tom was a class representative and panelist for the Peel Board Youth Leadership Conference, a fashion show co-ordinator, and a performer for the Master Lunch Theatre.
Tom has been busy volunteering in the community as well, participating in the Toronto Hydro Children’s Christmas party, the Mineola School Carnival, CNIB Fundraising Campaign, and as a puppeteer in the Mississauga Waterfront Festival.
Tom’s talent, hard work and dedication have been recognized by a number of awards, including: the Grade 10 Drama Award, Gold Award, Lighthouse Award, Drama Council President’s Award, Yearbook Editor’s Award, Peel District School Board’s Award Of Distinction, Honour Roll, the Drama Achivement Award, and the Sears Festival Award of Excellence.
Tom has been accepted at Queen’s University, faculty of Arts & Science, where he plans to start his Honours B.A. program, majoring in drama.
