2006 – Vikram Somasundaram
The Port Credit Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the recipient of our 2006 alumni scholarship is Vikram Somasundaram.
Vikram excelled in academics, achieving an average over 90% during the four years he spent at Port Credit. This performance has earned him a place at the University of Waterloo in the mathematics/chartered accountancy co-op program starting in the Fall of 2006.
Vikram participated in a wide range of extra-curricular activities at Port Credit including a term as President of the Student Activity Council in his senior year. At the same time he was Advertising Editor for the yearbook and curled for the Senior Boys Curling Team. His musical talents included playing first alto sax in the school band. He has also served on the Music Council, the Drama Council and Stage Crew for the Drama Club. Academic clubs were also part of Vikram’s school life with his participation in the Strategic History Club and Math Club.
In the community he was a volunteer with PLASP Childcare Services and the Rexdale Youth Leadership Program where he was selected to participate in a week-long youth leadership camp under the auspices of the Rotary Club. In addition, Vikram helped promote Port Credit’s new Sci-Tech program by hosting tours of prospective Grade 8 students.
The Alumni wish to congratulate Vikram on his academic achievements at Port Credit and to thank him for his contribution to school and community activities. We wish him much success in his future endeavors.
