2012 – Riley Parratt
The Port Credit Alumni association is pleased to announce that the 2012 recipient of our $500 award for a student going to College is Riley Parratt.
Throughout her years at Port Credit, Riley was involved in a wide range of athletic, drama and leadership activities.
Riley was an excellent athlete, winning gold and silver medals in wrestling, being MVP on the volleyball team and also playing rugby, flag football, softball and rugby.
In drama, Riley was an actor,as well as being a drama council vice president and stage manager. In September, Riley will continue her love of sports by taking the Sport Management program at Durham College.
The Alumni Association congratulates her on her achievements at Port Credit and wishes her all the best at College.
2012 – Marina Welby
The Port Credit Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the 2012 recipient of our $500 award for a student going to University is Marina Welby.
In addition to having an excellent academic record, Marina distinguished herself in the Arts fields, not only in music, where she was a member of the senior Jazz band, but also in her extensive work in Visual arts.
Marina excelled in her design work, seen around the school and also she represented Port Credit at the Peel Technological Skills competition where she won Gold.
Marina also helped out the school by arranging to have computer monitors donated to the Media Arts department as well as arranging for a car to be donated to the Auto-Tech department. In the fall Marina plans to continue to develop her skills in Art and Design at York University.
The alumni association would like to thank Marina for her excellent contributions to the school and community and to wish her good luck at University.
2012 – Eric Zheng
The Terry Garbutt Memorial Award
The Port Credit Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the 2012 recipient of our $750 award for the Terry Garbutt Memorial Award is Eric Zheng.
Eric was co-founder and co-president of the Cultural Unity Club which helped newcomers to the country with volunteer opportunities and tutoring services. He also planned a Cultural Unity Fair for the school in May.
Eric was a member of the SciTech council and was involved in organizing money raising activities, finding sponsors and guest speakers as well as doing promotional activities for the SciTech program.
Eric had an outstanding academic record at PCSS and participated in many University sponsored math contests and tutored other students in math, in addition to volunteering for many organizations in the community.
With Eric’s keen interest in helping others, he is going into the Health Sciences program at McMaster University with the goal of becoming a doctor.
Eric is a well deserving recipient of the Terry Garbutt award for 2012. Congratulations.
