Audio Library

Welcome to the PCHS / PCSS audio library! Admittedly it's not the most comprehensive library, since there are only two items, but it will grow substantially over time. Our entire collection right now consists of an interview with former PCHS Principal W.J. Wood, and a sample recording of the 1960 PCHS Choir.

The W.J. Wood Interview

Wilfred J. Wood

Wilfred J. Wood joined the staff at PCHS in 1933, was appointed Vice Principal in 1946, and became Principal in 1950. He served as Principal until 1956, when he left to become Principal of Gordon Graydon Secondary School.

In this eight-minute interview, former Principal Wilfred J. Wood talks about the changes that he's seen in the community over the decades, his teaching career at the Forest Avenue school, the fire of October 1956 and how it's believed to have started, and Hurricane Hazel.

The 1960, 1962 and 1963 PCHS Choir

Wilfred J. Wood

Thanks to PCSS alumni Bruce Caton and Peter Toller, we were able to borrow and encode several albums of the PCHS choir - recorded in 1960, 1962 and 1963. The choirs were conducted by former music teacher M. N. Lankin.

A Request For Audio Material

The audio files available on this web page represent what we were able to find in the school's archives. However, a great deal of our past lies in the dens, bookcases and basements of our graduates. We're always eager to add more items, and make your trip down Memory Lane more enjoyable, so we would like your assistance.

We're looking for PCSS packrats! If you've saved any items from your high school days which you feel would make a worthwhile addition to this web site - teacher or student interviews on cassette tape (or any other format), Christmas or spring concerts, teachers teaching a class, morning announcements etc. - then please contact us so that we can make arrangements to borrow and digitize them. We will treat your submissions with the utmost care, and return them to you in the same condition.
