2002 Scholarship Winner - Adrienne Kaminskyj
The Port Credit Alumni Association is pleased to announce that the recipient of our alumni scholarship of $500 is Adrienne Kaminskyj.
Adrienne attended Port Credit Secondary School for five years, and was involved in a large variety of activities during that time. In athletics, she was on the volleyball team for five years, the basketball team for two years, the rugby team for three years, and the track team for one year. Adrienne was the school representative for both the Ontario Leadership Centre and the Hugh O'Brien Leadership Conference. The purpose of both these activities is to develop leadership skills in young people.
Adrienne was an executive member of the athletic council, a coach of the midget boys volleyball team, and helped out the physical education department by organizing various fund-raising activities.
In the community, Adrienne coached skating for the City of Mississauga for three years, was a volunteer organizer for two Terry Fox runs, helped out at the Daily Bread Food Bank for four Christmases, was a youth counsellor at camp, a volunteer at church, and a counsellor for a Ukrainian Youth Group.
Even though she had an extremely busy extra-curricular schedule, Adrienne still had enough time left for her academic pursuits, and achieved an O.A.C. average of 88%. Her future plans are to complete a degree in Kinesiology at McMaster, and then look into a career as either an athletic trainer or a chiropractor.
Adrienne is a worthy recipient of our first alumni scholarship. We are very proud of her contributions to both Port Credit Secondary School, and the Port Credit community.
