2003 Scholarship Winner - Diane Blonski
The PCSS Alumni Committee is pleased to announce the recipient of our $500 four-year alumni scholarship is Diane Blonski.
Diane is the first recipient of the $500 scholarship award for students who have graduated from the new four-year high school program. Diane has had an outstanding four years at Port Credit, achieving honour standing every year. In athletics, Diane has been a strong participant in running and swimming. Twice she has received recognition as the most valuable member on the swim team. Diane puts her skills to good use by teaching swimming at her neighbourhood pool.
Diane is also an active member of the Scuba and Triathlon clubs, as well as participating in war canoe and baseball. Diane has been on the yearbook committee for three years, and was the editor-in-chief this year. She has also been a member of the Athletic Council and the Student Council.
In the community, Diane volunteers with the March of Dimes Committee, and at the library in Queen Elizabeth Public School. Diane has received the Blue & Gold Award for school involvement, the OAC Film Arts Award, the Doupe Trophy as the fastest miler in the school, and the Dr. Ralph Hicken Award for swimming.
With her strong interest in athletics and working with children, Diane would like to pursue a career in the medical field, either as a paediatrician or in sports psychology. Diane's teacher, Mr. Walter, says this about her: "You can be sure that Diane will continue to be involved and be a leader at university and in the commmunity. She is intelligent, outgoing, and meets every day with optimism and hope".
The Port Credit Alumni Committee would like to thank Diane for her contributions to the school and to wish her success in her future academic and career pursuits.
